Story

StarFlint is a 2D/3D adventure game combining puzzle platforming with adventure game elements. A mix of genres ranging from point & click to platformer to turn-based space combat. After passing through a black hole the player play as Fynn and Trixie, two agents of the starflint unit which seek to save the galaxy from the excessive ambitions of Commander Vargas. They discover traces of civilization and inevitably some problems arise... like mass slavery, completely bent humans oppressing the people, and all that kind of fun.

Gameplay

StarFlint is a reflexion game, far from nervous battles and hyperspeed platforms, even if it is not left out. The player must navigate their way through mostly linear levels (although occasional path choices and backtracking do occur), while finding items by traversing them. He must therefore seize the right timing to avoid traps and guards who do not really have intelligence. For example the player can move platforms to change the path of a patrol or simply block its way so that it changes direction and thus clears an exit.

On the one hand the player controls Fynn armed with his trusty blaster which can perform all sorts of basic actions (like pushing a crate, moving while crouching, ...) but he is clearly not agile. During the adventure, the player in command of Fynn meets different acolytes who will help him solve the situations. The characters are moved individually by two thumbsticks on the controller (or differents key on the keyboard). The controller triggers also cause the respective character to interact with the game world, such as activating to a switch or grabbing a object. The player progresses by manipulating the two characters at the same time to complete various puzzles, often requiring the player to manipulate both characters to perform differing functions (such as one distracting a hostile non-player character while the other makes their way around).

Unlike Fynn, Trixie is very agile! She moves faster, can double jump, slide, bounce or cling to walls, and even teleport using a mysterious Orb. The player can thus take the time to aim by stopping time with a simple press of a trigger and releasing it to launch it in the desired direction. Once the Orb has reached its way, another press teleports the player to its location. The player can also fly in space or underwater using their space suit.

Space combat in StarFlint is a turn-based puzzle game in 3D. You will strategically navigate fixed spaces on a grid to avoid enemies and take out your target or infiltrate to the end point. You really have to think about each move and all the enemy turns (a reference to hitman GO).

StarFlint is also a point and click adventure revisited and modernized in its gameplay and operation. Traditionally, the player must interact with the environment, collect and use objects on the scene, solve riddles and puzzles, interact with many 2D and animated characters, in order to progress in the story.

The player can move freely from planet to planet aboard his ship on a 3D open space map. He can quickly travel from one point to another in the galaxy using hyperspace after first selecting a destination from the navigation menu. This Hub is an opportunity for the player to follow the progress of the main quest but also to discover many adventures and additional destinations.
